Head Coach: Caroline Cates

Coach Cates began her teaching and coaching journey at Greater Atlanta Christian School, where she launched the high school dance elective and spent nine wonderful years building the elementary, middle, and high school dance teams. From there, she started the dance team and dance program at Barrow Arts and Sciences Academy before joining Jefferson in 2022. Here, Coach Cates started the middle school dance team and took over the varsity dance team in 2023.

She was on the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) Dance Committee that worked for three years to achieve sanctioning for dance as a sport under the GHSA for the 2020-2021 school year. She was the founding president of the Georgia Dance Coaches Association and is currently serving as interim president.

With 14 years of experience teaching and coaching dance, she’s passionate about growing programs that inspire confidence, creativity and teamwork. She’s married to Matt Cates, a varsity football coach, and they are the proud parents to Whit (3) and Claire (1).

Coach Cates is excited for the upcoming season and looks forward to watching the Jefferson dance programs continue to grow and succeed within this amazing community!
